Netherlands wonderkid Matthijs de Ligt has admitted he was 'shocked' by the words of Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo after their UEFA Nations League final.
Portugal were crowned winners of the inaugural UEFA Nations League after they beat Netherlands 1-0 in Sunday night’s final.
Valencia foward Goncalo Guedes scored the only goal of the game on the hour mark to see the hosts defeat the Orajne at the Estadio do Dragao.
And after the game, 19-year-old Dutch centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, who is widely regarded as one of the most promising footballers in the game was seen having an exchange with five-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo.
When asked if the Portugal captain had asked him if he wanted to come to Juventus, de Ligt told NOS: "Yes, there is a good chance he asked that.
"I was a little shocked about it so I didn't say anything back to it. That's why I laughed. I didn't understand him at first."
With FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United all vying for his signature over the off-season, it appears Ronaldo has been impressed by the Dutchman over their meetings this season.
However, the teenager concedes he needs to mull over the decision for a while before comitting to the next move of his promising career.
"I will go on vacation now," he told TV Univision. "I am going to think about what’s best for me and then I will decide. I think it’s important for a young player to play, that’s the only thing I know."
