Alexander has featured sporadically for Matsatsantsa since joining them at the beginning of last season from Polokwane City, with injuries not helping his cause amid stern competition for game-time with the likes of Dean Furman and Reneilwe Letsholonyane.
The former Ajax Cape Town man, who last played in an MTN8 Cup win over Maritzburg United on August 26, hopes he can soon secure the favour of coach Eric Tinkler.
"I must look at what's best for me and my career also," Alexander tells KickOff.com.
"But I'm not saying I'm not happy, I am very happy. I've been working hard to get back into the team. I'm not complaining. Ja, you know any soccer player looks for game-time. So I am at SuperSport now and I want to get back into the team. But having said that I must also look out for myself and look at what's best for me. What's important now is for me to get back to the team and start playing. Injuries hasn't been helping me also. I've been struggling with injuries. I'm still working hard but now I'm good to go.
"All I'm looking for now is to up my game. The guys that have been playing in my position are doing very well. I think we have the best midfield in South Africa. I must work hard. I must work my way up to the team because they also deserve to play. They've been doing very well. The team comes first, then it's the individuals.
"My last game was against Maritzburg in the MTN8. I've played against Chiefs also in the MMTN8 and in the league. I have played like four games so far."
