The 26-year-old, who played twice for Ajax Cape Town after coming through their youth ranks, has spent the past six years plying his trade in the National First Division with Vasco da Gama and Cape Town All Stars.
"To be quite honest, I'm ecstatic about what lies ahead for both me and the club and cannot wait to make my debut for the club," Gertse tells KickOff.com.
"It's been a while coming you know, but in life one has to be patient. I need to thank especially my parents and my agent for all their support over the years, they have always been there when I needed them. Now it's all up to me. I’m also not here to make up the numbers but I want to impress and to contribute just like any other player."
The centre-back adds: "Look, Chippa is an ambitious club and this ties in with my ethos as an individual. They have made massive strides since being promoted to the PSL back in 2012.
"They have really added value in the topflight and I'm hoping that I can add value to them as well."
This website understands that Gertse's former All Stars teammate Lionel Saal has also joined the Chilli Boys along with Ruzaigh Gamildien.
