Chippa star duo recovering from surgery

Chippa United have confirmed that attacking duo Rodney Ramagalela and Phakamani Mahlambi have both undergone surgery after picking up long-term injuries.

Ramagalela has yet to feature for Chippa United since signing at the beginning of the season.

His last appearance in the PSL was at Black Leopards against his current employers on May 12.

Mahlambi has made three appearances and scored once.

With his fitness an issue he didn’t play from start to finish in any of the matches and went out after 44 minutes against Stellenbosch.

"He (Ramagalela) has undergone surgery and the damage is around the knee so the doctors are still looking into when he will be back. This injury happened when he was getting ready to play for the team after having recovered from the minor injury that he had initially. When he got this setback at training he was literally crying," Lukhanyo Mzinzi, the chief operations officer at the club tells

"Phakamani has also done surgery. We believe in both players and the coach is building. These are players that when they are back in the team will repay you back, so we actually hope that they come back sooner," adds Mzinzi.

Chippa have had a difficult start to their season under Gavin Hunt with a single win from 10 games.

That win was in the season opener against Sekhukhune United and they have now gone nine games without a win, but they remain the only club to take points off Mamelodi Sundowns so far this season.
