Hazard dreams of Ballon d'Or glory

Hazard and Chelsea can cap off a fantastic season and claim the title should they beat West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Friday.

And Hazard, who was pipped to the PFA Player of the Year award by teammate N'Golo Kante, says he has his sights on the Ballon d'Or, which has been dominated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in recent years.

"It's in my mind. If I don't, it won't be a problem. I try to make a good career - the best I can - but I think some other players deserve to win it also," Hazard told Sky Sports.

Barcelona's Neymar has long been regarded as the player who will break Messi and Ronaldo's hold on the Ballon d'Or, and he is a player that Hazard admires.

The Belgian does not agree, however, with the assertion that one has to play in Spain to be a contender for the award.

"When Ronaldo and Messi retire, maybe it will be another couple of players like Neymar, Paulo Dybala or Antoine Griezmann, who knows? We will see. It's not something I think too much about.

"Could I win it? If I play next season, we win the Champions League, and I win the World Cup with Belgium, why not?

"In the last 10 years, the Ballon d'Or winners play in Spain, but it's not automatic. If a player is better in England, he will win it," said Hazard.
