Salah for European Golden Shoe?

Liverpool's Salah and Real Madrid club-record goalscorer Ronaldo both enjoyed incredible four-goal hauls this past weekend to take their tallies for their respective league seasons to 28 and 22, while FC Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi leads the LaLiga charts with 25.

If one considers that the Spanish based attackers share 10 Ballon d'Or awards between them, it puts into perspective the incredible achievement the African star is on the cusp of achieving, especially with his arrival at the Reds not being greeted with the sort of fanfare expected of a world-class attacker.

However, with nine rounds of fixture remaining and the incredible form shown from the rest of Europe's most prolific forwards', the Egyptian's name on the title is not set in stone.

Serie A based striker Ciro Immobile started this season on scintillating form with 13 goals in his first nine games but has petered off a bit in the race in recent weeks with Lazio's domestic form suffering a blip.

Currently on 24 strikes, the Italy international is joint third with Paris Saint-Germain club-record scorer Edison Cavani and Tottenham ace Harry Kane.

List of the Top 5 scorers in Europe for the 2017/18 season:

Mohamed Salah 28 (Liverpool)

Lionel Messi 25 (FC Barcelona)

Edinson Cavani 24 (Paris Saint-Germain)

Ciro Immobile 24 (Lazio)

Harry Kane 24 (Tottenham)
