Highlands Park: The numbers

4: The Lions of the North secured promotion with four games to spare, showing just how much they dominated the First Division this season. Even though they have won the league, they have promised not to take the foot of the pedal.

7: Owen da Gama’s men were in an unforgiving mood when they hammered Mbombela United 7-1 at Makhulong Stadium on March 17. Mothobi Mvala and Moeketsi Sekola got themselves on the score sheet twice, while Peter Shalulile, Spiwe Msimango and Bongani Sam joined in on the scoring spree.

11: Highlands have only conceded 11 goals and theirs is by far the best defence in the league.

13: Namibian forward Peter Shalulile has scored 13 times this season and is in a battle with Black Leopards striker Mwape Musonda for the top goal scorer award. Mwape has scored just one more than Shalulile.

15: They’ve had 15 different goal scorers this season. While Shalulile has been the main man upfront with the goals, there are many other players who have contributed to the team’s success.

17: Up to this point in the season, Highlands have kept 17 clean sheets. Goalkeepers Tapuwa Kapini and Marlon Heugh have played a key role in keeping these clean sheets this season.

56: Da Gama’s men have been ruthless in front of goal, scoring 56 goals in 26 matches. Their main goal scorers have been Shalulile, Mvala, Sekola, Sphiwe Mahlangu and Petrus Ngebo.
