As the tournament’s title sponsor celebrates 10 years as host of South Africa’s biggest club cup competition, KickOff.com looks at the players who have been most present when it comes to title deciders.
And, come Saturday, SuperSport goalkeeper Williams and Orlando Pirates defender Jele will celebrate milestones of their own when they make record fourth appearances in the showpiece clash, although only one will be able to add a third winners’ medal to their cabinet.
Each has also previously tasted defeat once in a Nedbank Cup final.
Tefu Mashamaite, Michael Morton and Oupa Manyisa also all have two Nedbank Cup gold medals, although the trio have only featured in two finals each.
Mashamaite achieved his medals with Bidvest Wits and Kaizer Chiefs , Morton doing the trick with Wits and SuperSport while Manyisa’s appearances have both been with Pirates [2011 and 2014].
Clayton Daniels, Thabo Matlaba, Mpho Makola, Ntsikelelo Nyauza and Bradley Grobler have also played in two finals but have each won it only once.
For the two men at the top of the pile, Jele’s cup final appearances have all been in the colours of his current club Pirates, just like Williams, who has only ever played for SuperSport United in his professional career.
Jele was a winner in 2011 and 2014 before having to deal with the misery of being a runner-up a year ago against Matsatsantsa.
Williams won it in 2012 and then was a losing finalist the following year before returning the joy of going up the podium as a champion again in 2016.
