Onyango hails Sundowns teammates

Nedbank Cup

Mamelodi Sundowns captain Dennis Onyango has hailed his teammates after lifting a treble of trophies following their Nedbank Cup triumph.

Sundowns completed the treble on Saturday after beating Marumo Gallants 2-1 in the Nedbank Cup final at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

The Brazilians also lifted the MTN8 and DStv Premiership before winning the Ke Yona Cup this season.

"For me, it’s been a good hardworking effort from the team of course with a few challenges here and there but our main target was to win everything on the table.

"We came up short with one trophy but everyone gave it their best, and the most important one was the league.

"Lifting the league title gave us the momentum to come to the final of the Nedbank Cup and we got it as well, which is fantastic. I think the guys did well to win all the trophies available in the PSL this season.

"It's been a great season, even though we could have done better with the Champions League.

"It’s been fantastic because without them we could not have made this far but we stayed cool even when things were not going well, and we focused on the next game which I think was important for everyone, for me I think the guys did a very good job," Onyango added.

Kabo Yellow is set to host the trophy parade in their home town in Tshwane on Wednesday.
