Eagles currently sit third in the Frst Division log standings, with 32 points from 20 games, and have every chance of making it to the promotion play-off at the end of the season.
With their main focus on securing their standing amongst the top three in the league, the Kwa-Zulu Natal-based outfit are not willing to bet on advancing in the Nedbank Cup.
Coming up against Matsatsantsa – who are strong contenders for the Absa Premiership title this season – Papic believes tonight's clash will test his side's chances of competing in the elite domestic league next season.
"“To talk about the chances [of beating SuperSport], I'm not really good at that," Papic tells KickOff.com.
“We are just thinking about the promotion, which is very-very important for us, and we are going to fight for that.
"But the [Nedbank] Cup is also some kind of [gauge] for us so we can see exactly where we are when we come to the PSL.”
Kick-off of tonight's clash at the Harry Gwala Stadium has been set for 19h30.
