Acornbush amped for Chiefs challenge

The ABC Motsepe League minnows were pitted with Amakhosi in Thursday night's last-16 draw in Randburg.

"I haven't slept since last night's draw, people have been calling me the whole night asking which stadium are we going to use for this fixture," Sias tells

"Today we will have a management meeting to discuss the venue. I'm excited, in our club history we haven't had a match like this. This club was established in 1987."

Sias admits some of their players look up to the Chiefs stars. However, he insists they can match the topflight title contenders, drawing encouragement from their shock 1-0 win over high-flying Cape Town City in the previous round of the competition.

"Most of our boys favour Chiefs but I will have to warn them to guard against idolising their favourite players."

He adds: "Pound for pound we can match Chiefs. Believe me when I say some of our players can play at Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, even at Sundowns.

"Last week Lebogang Manyama couldn't penetrate our defence, he was closed down by a 21-year-old Mduduzi Sibeko, who is the engine of the team. The central pairing of Sibeko, who impressed [City coach Eric] Tinkler, and Mzwandile 'Gravel' Buthelezi, who is wanted by Bloemfontein Celtic and Jomo Cosmos... it reminds one of the pairing of 'Masha' [Tefu Mashamaite] and Erick Mathoho at Chiefs."
