Orlando Pirates 1-2 Stellenbosch FC
Orlando Pirates dropped down to third spot on the DStv Diski Challenge table with a 2-1 loss to Stellenbosch FC in a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday.
The Buccaneers appeared to go on to victory after Ndumiso Ngiba’s first half strike earned them the advantage at the halftime break.
However, Stellies put a gallant fight following the break and levelled through Devon Titus and secured the winner through a stunner from Jared Van de Burg.
Pirates also had to finish the match with ten players after Ngiba received his marching orders following a second bookable offence and had a first-time strike from Mohau Nkota disallowed.
SuperSport United 4-3 Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs slumped to a 4-3 loss against SuperSport United, who managed to leapfrog Orlando Pirates in second spot in the process.
The Amakhosi were behind through Sibusiso Maziko’s penalty before Tendamudzimu Matodzi and another strike from Maziko gave United a three-goal cushion.
Chiefs fought back after halftime through Wandile Duba, Keletso Sifama before Neo Rapo had given United a fourth, but the Soweto giants sneaked in a late consolation through Mthokozisi Balakazi.
Mamelodi Sundowns 1-2 TS Galaxy
Mamelodi Sundowns’ inconsistent string of results in the Diski Challenge continued with a 2-1 loss to fourth-place TS Galaxy at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Masandawana came unstuck against Sekhukhune United in their last outing, while the Rockets overcame Maritzburg United and two efforts from Daanyal Daya and Sabelo Zulu put the host aside.
Chippa United 2-3 AmaZulu
Chippa United witnessed their three-match winning run come to an end following a 3-2 defeat at the hands of AmaZulu in Gqeberha.
A hat-trick from Usuthu’s midfielder Tebogo Masuku was enough to grant them all the points and dampen the Chilli Boys top-four aspirations.
Maritzburg United 2-0 Baroka FC
Maritzburg United scrapped a string of consecutive defeats in the way of a 2-0 victory over fourth-bottom Baroka FC in Pietermaritzburg.
The Team of Choice made a promising start and were in the lead through a penalty from Ayanda Ngcobo before a finish from Ashley Wyngaard doubled their tally.
Royal AM 4-0 Marumo Gallants FC
Royal AM made Marumo Gallants FC’s ambitions to climb off the foot of the table all the more difficult with a commanding 4-0 victory.
It’s a return to winning ways for AM following the loss to TS Galaxy in a rescheduled encounter, while it is another four-goal hammering for Gallants following last week’s thumping by Pirates.
Golden Arrows 1-2 Sekhukhune United
A last-gasp strike handed Golden Arrows a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sekhukhune United at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu.
Babina Noko were in the lead at the break before Arrows responded through Sabelo Duma’s finish, but Phaleng Mashego broke the home team’s hearts with the winner right at the death.
