The home side came from a goal down to thump Wits 4-2 taking a two goal advantage into the second leg on September 24 at Bidvest Stadium.
"In the first-half we didn't do the right things, we kept on losing the ball in the wrong places, but once we stopped making unnecessary mistakes and losing the ball the boys came right,” Freese told KickOff.com.
"I think the introduction of Henrico Botes played an important role because once we started to hold the ball up front, we got the midfield more into play and that was the big difference.
“I'm happy with the score at home, but conceding the two soft goals was not great," he added.
Freese says that he is proud of his side for coming back from a goal down to score four goals in the second half.
"I know my team can score goals. It was just a matter of time before we started scoring. In the opening League game of the season we were unfortunate not to score, but I knew that we would come right sometime.
"I'm really happy about the reaction of the players in the second half, but we should not have conceded the two goals," he said.
