Sundowns boost as striker available


Mamelodi Sundowns received a major boost on the eve of their highly-anticipated MTN8 clash against Kaizer Chiefs, with new striker Pavol Safranko available for selection.

Safranko is set to make his debut for Sundowns after a headline-grabbing transfer to Chloorkop, coming with a highly-regarded reputation as a goalscorer.

The 26-year-old is the first Slovakian to seal a move to the DStv Premiership. 

Being recruited alongside other new signings such as Thabiso Kutumela, Neo Maema and Sifiso Ngobeni in a productive offseason for Masandawana.

According to a high-ranking Sundowns official, Safranko's registration has been ratified by the PSL.

"Safranko's papers are sorted out. He is registered with the PSL and available for selection against Kaizer Chiefs", the official disclosed to KickOff.

Sundowns welcome Chiefs to the Lucas Moripe Stadium in an MTN8 quarter-final on Sunday.

Kick-off is at 15:00.
