Hunt: Judge Benni after 1000 games

The 39-year-old McCarthy enjoys a perfect record four games into his first stint as a head coach, most recently overseeing a second 1-0 win over Wits in the first leg of the MTN8 semi-finals on Sunday.

Hunt, who handed McCarthy his Seven Stars debut in 1995, was asked about the Bafana Bafana legend's progress in the hotseat following the result at Cape Town Stadium.

The four-time PSL champion said: "Well, football's easy for him at the moment, isn't it? He must say, 'what's all the fuss about?'. Wait until he's done 1000 games like I've done, or maybe 1200 games like I've done, then we will see. Ask him the same question [then].

"He's been great, he's won every game, he looks the part, so all good and well. Three games or four games, wait until he's done a 1000, then we will see."

Hunt also confirmed his club will add to the recent signing of Egyptian striker Amr Gamal before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

"Yes, there will be three or four gone, that's for sure, and one or two in. We are going to do something, we will do, we have to, we have to balance our books."

The former Hellenic defender expects big things of Gamal following his decent debut against the Citizens. Gamal, on loan from Al-Ahly, showed a good touch and protected the ball well but had few shots in a contest short of clear-cut chances.

"He arrived on Friday, with the language and all that we have a lot to work on. We haven't had the time to train with him. We played Tuesday or Wednesday, we haven't had much time but he's got the qualities we need, there's no doubt."

Hunt's options upfront were recently replenished by the return of Phakamani Mahlambi following his unsuccessful trial with Bongani Zungu's Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes.

"He's back, he's integrated," Hunt added of Mahlambi.
