Motshwari made his bow in front of The Buccaneers faithful at Orlando Stadium over the weekend, following his move from Bidvest Wits at the end of last season.
The 27-year-old enjoyed the full length of the MTN8 quarterfinal, which stretched into extra-time as well as penalties, during which his side fell to a disappointing 4-3 defeat to SuperSport United on Saturday.
In a team context, the diminutive central midfielder was naturally displeased with the outcome of his maiden run-out, but welcomed the start of great things on a personal scale.
“One cannot be happy after such a disappointing result. Especially if you consider how well we played on the night," Motshwari bemoaned on his club's website.
"On a personal level however, I am pleased to have finally made by debut for the club. Wearing that iconic Pirates jersey for the first time under the Orlando Stadium lights is the stuff of dreams.
“This is only the beginning, I aim to build on this performance and look to play more consistently in the team. At Pirates you cannot relax for a moment because of the quality of players in the team.
"I welcome such competition though, because it forces you to push yourself at all times – this can only make me a better player.”
