The 24-year-old Bafana Bafana forward has grown in leaps and bounds for both club and country over the past two seasons, earning the PSL and KICK OFF Footballer of the Season titles following his showing in the 2017/18 campaign.

With negotiations between the two clubs believed to be at an advanced stage, it could be a matter of time before the deal is officially announced.

Zwane, meanwhile, believes the Sundowns academy graduate has proven his worth to be able to withstand the tests abroad, and feels the time is right for Tau to make the move.

“Personally, I feel it’s time for him to go. I feel he’s done a lot for the team, he has shown that he’s ready to play overseas,” Zwane tells

“The way he plays, you can see he has matured and I think he can still go and learn more that side and improve his football to another level.”

With the prospect of losing Tau becoming inevitable, the club could be without two of their talismen in the new season following Khama Billiat’s recent move to rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
