Shonga attracts interest from Europe

Orlando Pirates striker Justin Shonga has attracted interest from Portuguese side CS Maritimo.

Maritimo is the same football club that University Of Pretoria striker Collins Mbesuma previously played for during his loan spell from Portsmouth in 2006.

Shonga's agent Karabo Mathang-Tshabuse confirms the interest in her player.

"Ja I can confirm that there is interest from Maritimo but at the moment it's a situation that is between the teams to decide," she tells KickOff.com.

"So I can categorically confirm that there is interest but it's for the teams to reach some kind of agreement. It is now before the two teams.

"In terms of the player he's under contract at Pirates and he will serve them dutifully. And so it is only once the two teams have had a meeting that it would be for the player to consider the options.

'So in terms of Justin, he will serve out dutifully his contract with Orlando Pirates."

Shonga's representative refused to disclose length of the Zambian international's contract with The Buccaneers.

"He is still under contract. Now you are stretching me into confidential territories that I can't disclose, but he's still under contract.

"He's happy at the club you know and he will honour his contract to the fullest."
