Van Heerden has been without a club since Golden Arrows decided not to renew his contract in June which has forced him to trek back home to Port Elizabeth.
"I am back home here in Port Elizabeth training alone while I wait to hear from my manager (Rob Moore).
"Since I am a free agent I can join any team at any time but I have to admit I miss the action that comes with playing at a club. I am without a club but I am not panicking because I never doubt my quality though I have to admit not playing can be frustrating at times," Van Heerden tells KickOff.com.
"What happened at Arrows is that I had a short-term contract, which upon its expiry, the club decided not to renew. I don't know why they didn't renew it but what I noted was that there was also a couple of other experienced players that also left.
"My time at Arrows was good because I got to play. Right now I am not particular about where I get to play next be it locally or abroad as long as it is an opportunity that I can take," he adds.
The 29 year-old was most recently training with Ajax Cape Town.
"At Ajax I was merely keeping fit in a team environment after my manager arranged that for me and I enjoyed every moment I spent there. I am actually doing a lot of fitness work right now so that when the opportunity arises I am ready," says Van Heerden.
Van Heerden also spent time without a club last year after leaving KVC Westerlo in Belgium and only signed for Arrows in November.
