Danger man is wanted man

Fashina is allegedly still registered with Swazi Premier Soccer League outfit, Malanti Chiefs and according to documents submitted by club owner Dumsani Gumede to KickOff.com this morning, has already played a number games for the Mauritian team.

Gumede said he was he surprised to read an article in the latest KickOff magazine that singled out Fashina as one of the players to watch out for in Starlight team when they face SuperSport in the first round of the Caf Champions League next month.

“I had been trying to locate the player in a number of African countries, until someone told me about the article in KickOff where it was mentioned that he had played for my team in Swaziland.

“It appears that someone has tried to change the spelling of his surname. It’s Fashina, not Fashiia as spelt in the magazine."

“I’m surprised that a player can register with another team without getting a clearance from his former club,” says Gumede.

“We spent lot of money when we bought this player, including a high signing on fee, so we are not taking this matter lightly.

“I have already instructed my secretary to write a letter to Caf to notify them about the player being registered illegally with the team in Mauritius."

According to Gumede, Fashina left Swaziland on October 2, telling him that he was going for trials in France but would pass through Mauritius to apply for a visa to Europe.

The Swazi businessman also showed KickOff.com the SMS that Fashina sent to him before leaving Mbabane in October last year.

“Hi boss, it’s me Fashina. Just inform you am going 2 France 4 trials my agent cal me 2 come 2 Mauritius 2 get my visa 2 move here. sorry 4 telling u late bco I do u man't not allow me 2 go pls pray 4 me. Will come back soon 2 get my clearance dis oportunity 2 mak it in life pls don’t be annoyed. Wil b leaving on friday night.”

KickOff.com managed to get hold of Curepipe Starlight’s managing director through the Mauritius Football Association.

The man, who identified himself only as ‘Dillem’ pleaded ignorance when asked about the registration of Fashina.

“We followed all the procedure to register the player with Caf. You can write whatever you want to write,” he added.
