“American players are rare in South Africa and there is always curiosity when they do come to play here. Morgan’s arrival brings more competition among the keepers here. He shows a lot of potential in the way he goes about business.
“The things that have impressed me are his bravery and his shot stopping ability. His attitude is encouraging, however, his distribution needs to improve.”
Petim, who has played cameo roles for Amaglug-glug, adds that he is keeping his hopes high in the battle to get more game time.
“Obviously it is not easy competing against Hans Vonk, but there is no reason for me to lose hope. Hans is also not getting any younger but he is still good enough to play for Bafana. I am pushing very hard, because even though I am behind him in the pecking order, I really want to play more this season,” says the 22-year-old, who was previously an understudy to Moeneeb Josephs.
Petim has only played 24 games since making his debut for the Urban Warriors during the 2004-05 season.
