Pirates and Celtic learn CAFCC fate

CAF Confederation Cup

Orlando Pirates await Sagrada Esperanca or Mbabane Swallows in the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup, while Bloemfontein Celtic were drawn with AS Maniema Union.

Pirates have been exempt from the two-legged preliminary round that will take place between 27-29 November and 4-6 December, but Nedbank Cup finalists Celtic have a tough task.

John Maduka's tenacious outfit, who qualified for the MTN8 finals this weekend, have been pitted against Democratic Republic of Congo outfit Maniema Union, who finished third in the Vodacom Linafoot last season.

The winner of what is expected to be a fiery tie will come up against the winners of Futuro Kings of Equatorial Guinea and Nigerian Premier Football League side Rivers United.

Meanwhile the Buccaneers, who hold great pedigree in the competition having reached the semi-final (1999) and the final (2015), will bide their time to see the winners between GDSE from Angola and Mbabane Swallows.

Josef Zinnbauer's side will enter the competition between 22-23 December and the second leg is scheduled for 5-6 January 2021.
