Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rhulani Mokwena has responded to Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane over his recent remarks over the CAF Champions League quarter-final draw.
Mosimane earlier this week suggested that teams will fear the Red Devils in the Champions League quarter-finals, as the final eight is set to be confirmed this weekend.
Al Ahly have secured their places in the knockout stages but will finish second in Group A behind Tanzanian giants Simba, which means they will be unseeded in the draw and could face any of the other group winners in the next round.
With Sundowns having already secured top spot in Group B, there is a real chance that the two sides could be pitted together, and Mokwena has now issued a response to his former mentor.
"I think Coach Pitso is right – who wants to play the defending champions except Mamelodi Sundowns? We would welcome them because that's the competition," Mokwena told reporters on Thursday morning.
"Once you get to the last 8 and get to the last 4, you get to play anybody and you've got to play all the best teams in that space, and I think if Coach Pitso is honest, I don't think he wants to play Mamelodi Sundowns – I don't think so."
