Wydad Athletic Club manager Faouzi Benzarti has explained why the showed no mercy against Kaizer Chiefs in the 4-0 CAF Champions League thrashing.
Last season's semi-finalists moved to the summit of Group C after goals from Mohamed Ounajem, Youssef El Kaabi set the tone in the first-half and Simon Msuva and Yahya Jabrane added two late goals in the second.
With wins over Petro de Luanda and now Chiefs, the Moroccan giants look back to their formidable best as they set the pace in the Moroccan top-flight and in Africa's elite club competition in Benzarti's third stint as coach.
"We noticed that Kaizer Chiefs were beatable and went for killing the match early on," he said after the clash at the Stade du 4 Août in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
"There is no easy match, we knew our opponent as well as it is for them, [that is why] we tried to play and kill the match in the first half. We scored two goals at the beginning, and [that] made it easy for us in the second half."

The veteran Tunisian tactician went on to explain that they anticipated that Chiefs would leave spaces in and behind their defence and sent a message to Amakhosi coach Gavin Hunt.
"We knew that the opponent would go out to attack, so they left spaces that we used well, and we added two more goals. I wish the Kaizer Chiefs coach good luck in the rest of the matches. I congratulate both teams, we put on a good show."
