Middendorp ropes in ex-Pirates coach

CAF Champions League

Ernst Middendorp has lured former Orlando Pirates coach Maahier Davids to form part of his technical team at Ethiopian Premier League giants Saint George SC.

Middendorp signed a three-year contract with the East African side last week as he bounced back quickly after parting ways with Kaizer Chiefs.

With the clear intention to win the league, Middendorp's first action in the hotseat was to rope in an assistant, with Davids now leaving his role as head coach at GladAfrica Championship side Cape Umoya United.

KickOff.com can confirm that Davids, the younger brother of current Pirates coach Fadlu, has signed his new contract and will be departing for Addis Ababa imminently.

The 33-year-old, who previously worked with Middendrop during their time at Maritzburg United, finished 11th in the South African first division in his first full season as a head coach.
