AmaZulu promising war in CAF CL

CAF Champions League

Owner Sandile Zungu has warned any team that underestimates his AmaZulu side would do so at their peril after qualifying for the group stages of the Champions League for the first time ever.

A confident Zungu sent out a strong message after Benni McCarthy's side overcame five-time champions TP Mazembe to clinch a spot in the competition's group stages.

Zungu declared that Usuthu would compete with African giants such as defending champions Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns.

"You know the starting line-up will always have 11 players, and we will always have 11 players as well," Zungu tells

"And if any team approaches AmaZulu with arrogance while trying to undermine us, we will see them coming and we will "moer" them. We will be equally arrogant.

"The pride of this brand is something we will defend with all our might and we will die with our boots on.

"Even ourselves as fans in the stands, whether we're playing home or away we will roll up our sleeves if it means we need to defend the pride of Usuthu.

"We did that at TP Mazembe who know we are a loud lot if need be. We are not a docile lot. At AmaZulu we not going to be docile we are loud. We are engaging.

"So if anyone is going to approach AmaZulu with the arrogance of old they will be in for a rude awakening. So we like people who approach us like that, and trust me in fighting for our brand we will not tolerate that kind of arrogant attitude."

AmaZulu next turns their attentions to the DStv Premiership with a clash at Sekhukhune United on Wednesday.

Kick-off is at 17:30.
