Mahlangu was banned from all future Bafana Bafana matches after he declined a call-up for qualifiers against Sudan and Nigeria, citing fatigue.
The 25-year-old is yet to make an official statement on the matter, but KickOff.com understands that SAFA could consider their position and recall the player should he apologise to coach Shakes Mashaba.
However, SAFA’s head of communications Dominic Chimhavi tells this website from Cairo that SAFA’s position hasn’t changed.
“What we said previously is our official position regarding the May Mahlangu issue. But the onus is on the player to come forward regarding this issue. From our side there is nothing we can do … the ball is in the player’s court.”
