Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is hoping to have more South African fans in attendance at stadiums when South Africa host Zimbabwe in their next World Cup qualifier next month.

Broos' side clinched a 1-0 win over Ethiopia in front of a crowd of 2 000 as fans were allowed to return to live sporting action for the first time since a nationwide lockdown in March last year due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

"We really hope for the next game against Zimbabwe that we see more fans in the stands," Broos said.

"Because in a game like this if you have a bad moment, when you suffer during matches then you can have the fans behind you.

"It gives the players more energy.

"Let's hope we have more fans soon because today 2 000 fans were here, and let's dream for ten times this amount against Zimbabwe. It will be fantastic."

Bafana Bafana will welcome Zimbabwe in their next World Cup qualifier on November 11 at a venue yet to be announced.
