De Reuck: Fans return an added motivation

Defender Rushine De Reuck says the return of fans will be an added motivation for Bafana Bafana in a World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia on Tuesday at FNB Stadium.

South African fans will return to football stadiums for the first time since the national lockdown was introduced due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Tuesday's World Cup qualifier between Bafana Bafana and Ethiopia at FNB Stadium will mark the first time in almost two years where fans will be able to attend a live sporting event.

After an impressive 3-1, away win over Ethiopia De Reuck has insisted that Bafana can't afford to rest on their laurels.

"The spirit is very high in the team," De Reuck said.

"We all want to achieve the same thing and that is to qualify. We also need to take it one game at a time and that’s what we’re doing.

"We are all working hard for each other collectively and we know if we do that it's very possible to qualify.

"Having said that as well, we need to continue as we're only halfway there. We can't afford to rest on our laurels now.

"Hopefully having our home fans will help us get the positive result."

Bafana Bafana remains the only undefeated team in Group G having collected seven points from three games.

Kick-off is at 18:00.
