Webber to fix his shortcomings

The 19-year-old attacker was recently handed his debut by Stuart Baxter during the COSAFA Castle Cup and has since played close to 200 minutes for the national team.

Webber was also rewarded with a place in Baxter’s 25-man squad for their upcoming CHAN qualifiers against 2012 African champions Zambia.

Bafana play host to Chipolopolo in their first leg tie on August 12 at the Buffalo City Stadium in East London.

According to Webber he needs to sharpen and hone his skills to command a regular place in the national side’s starting eleven.

“There are so many aspects of my game I need to work on and improve,” Webber told KickOff.com. “My decision-making, things like the weight I put on the ball when I pass during games.

“I think I also lack the necessary composure in and around the goal box. So, I’m aware that there’s hard work that lies ahead on a personal note but that’s why I’m here – to learn and grow."

The Old Mutual Academy product stated that despite Zambia’s reputation on the African continent they pose no threat for the home side come next week.

“Look, we’re not exactly sure about the game plan they're coming with but whatever it is, I’m confident we’ll be able to deal with what they throw at us,” Webber further stated.

“Our team is good enough to outplay them on the day. We have young talented players who are very hungry to make their mark. It is also important for us to make full use of our home ground advantage.

“We should have the edge over them as we’re a team that can adapt and don’t just have one style of play. This is all down to our competent technical team."
