Bafana taking Libya to Durban

Bafana have not played since being crowned Plate champions at the 2018 COSAFA Cup held in Limpopo between May and June due to the recent FIFA World Cup in Russia, which the team failed to qualify for last year.

The senior men's national team are now set to return to action next month when they host Libya in their second 2019 AFCON qualifier, with the fixture set to take place in Durban on September 8.

Moses Mabhida is set to host the all-important clash, which Stuart Baxter's charges will be looking to use to strengthen their chances of booking their places in Cameroon next year.

South Africa currently sit second in Group E of the continental qualifying campaign, with The Mediteranean Knights occupying top spot with a superior goal difference after one round of fixtures.

Nigeria's Super Eagles, who lost 2-0 to Bafana at home 14 months ago, as well as Seychelles, who suffered a 5-1 thumping away to Libya, complete the group.

Baxter is expected to name his squad for next month's clash on August 28 or 30, according to a statement from SAFA, while the squad will assemble on September 2 before travelling to KwaZulu-Natal the following day.
