Turkish delight for ex-Chiefs man

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Teenage Hadebe’s profile continues to grow in the Turkish Super Lig after netting his first goal for his club Yeni Malatyaspor over the weekend.

Hadebe scored the solitary goal in Malatyaspor's 1-0 win over Alanyaspor to ease their relegation worries as they seek to stay up in the top tier of Turkish football.

The lanky defender met a delivery from the left with his head to score the goal that made the difference, and won his club all three points as they ended a run of 13 games without victory.

With the goal, Malatyaspor have now moved four points away from the drop zone in the 21-team Super Lig.

Hadebe has played 25 games this season, at either centre-back or left-back, while he featured 28 times in his first year in Turkey after moving from Chiefs in July 2019.

The 25-year-old spent two years in Naturena, where he managed 39 appearances and scored one goal.

At the end of last season, there was interest in the Hadebe from France but he chose to stay in Turkey, seeking to play regular football and build his profile further.

Hadebe is due to head off to his third AFCON finals next year after playing a key role in helping Zimbabwe qualify for the showpiece.
