GALLERY: How Bafana shook Cairo

It will go down as one of the finest victories in Bafana Bafana history.

Written by locals, and some of their own supporters, Bafana pulled off arguably the biggest upset at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, eliminating hosts Egypt at Cairo International Stadium on Saturday night.

A group of fans had signs written “bye-bye Bafana Bafana” but it was Stuart Baxter men who had the last laugh by saying bye-bye Egypt with a 1-0 victory.

Orlando Pirates winger Thembinkosi Lorch calmly slotted home what proved to be the winner in the second half, in front of a capacity crowd at one of the finest stadiums on the continent.

It was a goal not only the PSL Footballer of the Season will remember, but one South Africans will savour for many years to come.

Bafana will now take on old foes Nigeria in the quarterfinals, looking to cause another upset.

But before they take on the Super Eagles on Wednesday, brings you a gallery of pictures to relive what will go down as one of the greatest victories Bafana have registered.
