Onyango on Tuesday was named in the Africa Best XI team for the third year in a row, a feat made more impressive by him being the only one in the side that still plays his football on the continent.
Mosimane has often dubbed the Ugandan the best keeper in Africa, which Onyango says serves as motivation to maintain his high levels of performance.
Onyango also credits the role of fellow Downs shot-stoppers Kennedy Mweene, Reyaad Pieterse and Thela Ngobeni in providing stern competition for game-time at Chloorkop.
“It gives me confidence when coach Pitso gives me such motivation and praises me, but at the same time I must work hard and must show I amthe best as he says,” Onyango said.
“And it keeps me on my toes because the people I work with, Kennedy, Reyaad and Thela also push me to my limit, because I must give my best all the time to be in the goals and that makes me a better keeper and a person.”
