Some fresh faces will be expected to come in for the likes of Hlompho Kekana and Siphiwe Tshabalala, who were part of the squad in the last two World Cup qualifiers against Senegal last year.

In the middle of the park, Baxter is likely to stick with the likes of Dean Furman, Kamohelo Mokotjo, Bongani Zungu and Andile Jali, but there’s also the possibility of seeing Lebohang Maboe, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Thabo Nodada, Teboho Mokoena and Xola Mlambo, who has been in good form for Orlando Pirates.

Despite being one of the more consistent players, Bidvest Wits' Thabang Monare has not been able to get a call-up. He has started the season well and will have his fingers crossed he gets summoned.

On the wings, Baxter can call on the likes of Themba Zwane, Keagan Dolly Luther Singh, Craig Martin, Mihlali Mayambela and Riyaad Norodien, who is slowly rediscovering his form and confidence with game-time at Cape Town City.

Vincent Pule has made a bright start at Pirates, while Fagrie Lakay is fast becoming an important player for SuperSport United. Lakay has experience of playing at international level, so he will not be fazed by the challenge.

Phakamani Mahlambi and Lebogang Manyama, who were part of the squad that played Senegal last year, have seen little game-time since then and it’s expected that they won’t be part of the squad.
