Bucs booked a quarter-final date with Golden Arrows courtesy of a Bacela brace, and late strike from Oupa Manyisa, while Mabhuti Khenyeza scored for AmaZayoni at Mbombela Stadium.
In an action-packed tie, both sides struck the woodwork, with Bacela also having a shot cleared off the line.
He said afterwards: "With the chances we were missing, on any other day it would have been easy to think that it wasn't going to happen.
"But we got the goals, and congrats to the guys for that."
The former Bloemfontein Celtic hitman added that he and his teammates have been putting extra work into their finishing.
"We've been working on it, putting in the extra hours after training.
"Special mention to the goalkeepers, as they always stay after training for us."
Meanwhile, Bacela dismissed talk the Sea Robbers could be at risk of fatigue given their heavy schedule.
"Playing alot of games is what you want as a player," he said.
"The more games you play, the stronger you become.
"We have to be grateful to play in the Champions League.
"It's great to be involved in such competitions and have the opportunity to play games," concluded the 30-year-old.
