He went on to lead the side again in the 1-0 victory over Maritzburg United in the Absa Premiership last weekend.

And Mashamaite is enjoying the extra responsibility as regular Chiefs skipper Itumeleng Khune continues his recovery from an ankle injury.

“How do I even begin to describe it? Well it’s a privilege and honour for me to wear the captain's armband at a giant like Kaizer Chiefs.” Mashamaite tells KickOff.com.

“I am one of the few that have been very fortunate with this opportunity and I’m really honoured.

“I know that it comes with a lot of pressure and high expectations but I take each day as it comes and each day for me is a blessing,” adds the former Bidvest Wits captain.
