Stars look for first win against Chippa

Telkom Knockout

Stars have gone four League matches without a win after playing to a goalless draw at home to University of Pretoria on the weekend.

On the other hand, Chippa come into the match in hot form, having claimed a second straight league win with a surprise 1-0 defeat of Orlando Pirates.

Stars are the reigning Telkom Knockout champions, having overcome Maritzburg United, Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Pirates to win the 2013 edition.

They have played 15 Telkom Knockout matches since the tournament’s inception in 2006, recording eight wins, three draws and four defeats. They have won one of the three penalty shootouts they have been involved in.

They also won the tournament in 2006.

Chippa have only competed in the Telkom Knockout once before. In 2012 edition they were eliminated in the first round by eventual champions Bloemfontein Celtic.

Stars and Chippa have never met in an official cup match before. The teams have, however, clashed in three league matches.

The Chilli Boys enjoy an unbeaten record against Dikwena with two victories and one draw from their three matches.
