'Micho', however, has appealed to the club's supporters to remain positive as they still have the Absa Premiership, CAF Champions League and Nedbank Cup to play for.

“We are still in three competitions, namely the Nedbank Cup, PSL and CAF Champions League,” Micho told reporters after the match.

“It is something that when you are looking at, even at MTN8 we lost on penalties against SuperSport United. Here on penalties, very unfortunate. We could not return the situation but something that is very important in life is not about how hard you have been hit.

“We have been hit in that super eight, losing on penalties and today losing on penalties. However, it is not about how hard you are hit, it is about how strong you are from moving on.”

Micho expects an immediate response from the log leaders when they visit struggling Free State Stars in Bethlehem on Tuesday.

“We already have a chance on Tuesday against Free State Stars in the league that is serving as a bridge towards next Saturday in the Champions League. We need to pick up the pieces.

“It is very unfortunate. We have reached the brink of winning the trophy, we have not. However, I believe that the effort and approach of the players playing like lions in human shape, and giving everything in the field of play will serve us as an injection to enable to continue working hard in times ahead of us, looking to make our supporters happy.

“I strongly believe, knowing our supporters, they will recognise the effort given under the circumstances,” concluded the Serbian.
