The Buccaneers will face the Tunisians in the second leg away in two weeks.
“I’m not over the moon with the result, although I’m happy with the performance against a team like Esperance,” De Sa says.
“Obviously I still feel one or two of the chances we had, I would have liked to put them away. Sifiso Myeni’s header, Lennox Bacela’s shot. I was very upset at half-time that we had quite a few chances, but their goalkeeper never made a save until the second half and that was disappointing.
“But the performance overall was not bad, I’m content. If we score an away goal, we have a chance. 0-0 is better than 1-1 at home. It’s an open game now.”
De Sa also admitted that they will need to do better to convert their chances in the second leg.
“At this level, with the half chances that we get, we’ve got to put one away. That’s what we need to do – and do it better.
“But I could not ask for more from the players. I mean we just came from the [MTN8] cup final that we lost, two games against Kaizer Chiefs, Al Ahly, Zamalek, I mean it has been hectic.
“To have this type of effort from the players and bounce back from the cup loss against top four teams in Africa and pla the way they played, I can’t ask for more.”
Bucs next face Mpumalanga Black Aces in the Telkom Knockout tomorrow.
