Khenyeza was recently honoured for his acheivement by his current club Mpumalanga Black Aces (check out their Facebook page for the picture gallery).
Since making his debut for Golden Arrows in 2002, Khenyeza has turned out for Kaizer Chiefs, Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns, SuperSport United and now Aces.
He scored his 100th goal against Bloemfontein Celtic last week, to become only the second player still playing to earn a century of goals in the modern PSL era (since 1996) – the other being Moroka Swallows forward Siyabonga Nomvete, who stands on 110.
“I can still remember my first goal like it was yesterday,” Khenyeza tells Aces’ official website.
“It was a corner kick and I remember attacking the ball at the near post and heading it past the Ajax Cape Town keeper. I celebrated for a couple of minutes – I couldn’t believe it!
“As for my favourite goal ... I always enjoy scoring but if a have to single out my most memorable goal, it has to be during the Soweto Derby for Chiefs against Pirates.
“It was a full house and I scored 19 seconds into the match. My back was facing the goal and I turned and hit a half volley ... eish what a feeling!”
Aces management presented Khenyeza with a ‘certificate of excellence’ at a small ceremony held after training, and he says: “Thanks Amazayoni, the certificate is an award that I will treasure for the rest of my life and will share it with my children.”
Khenyeza will hope to add to his tally against Pirates again in the Telkom Knockout on October 8 at Mbombela Stadium.
