Kaizer Chiefs Player Ratings

6 Brilliant Khuzwayo – Made a couple of decent saves, but then again he was beaten three times. Could have perhaps done better with the second goal.

5 Siboniso Gaxa – Poor making as he failed to stop Thabo Nthethe from scoring Sundowns’ second goal, and didn’t do much right on the night.

5 Tsepo Masilela – Nowhere near Billiat for Sundowns’ first goal and appeared to struggle for pace for the better part of the match.

5 Morgan Gould – He left space open between himself and Lorenzo Gordinho to allow Castro a free header.

6 Lorenzo Gordinho – Equally to blame for Castro’s goal, but did slide in to deny Dolly at pace as Downs threatened on the counter just before the break.

5 Willard Katsande – He didn’t focus on his game as he constantly fought with the referee.

5 Hendrik Ekstein – Struggled to stamp his authority on the match and was taken off in the 53rd minute, with Reneilwe Letsholonyane taking his place.

5 Lucky Baloyi – Perhaps the only positive contribution from ‘Sheriff’ was the pass to Lebese early in the second half, but Lebese didn’t take the opportunity as he fired wide.

5 George Lebese – Speaking of Lebese, he was always closed down and when he did get some space, he failed to use the opportunity. Not his best match.

5 Edward Manqele – Full of running, but hardly troubled the Downs defence, though he did help set up the chance for Lebese.

5 Siphiwe Tshabalala – Shabba tried his best, but missed a penalty in the 61st minute and that could have been an opportunity for Chiefs to get back into the game.

6 Bernard Parker – Replaced Baloyi in the 53rd and won a penalty seven minutes later, but otherwise not much to speak of.

6 Reneilwe Letsholonyane – Great pass to Parker in the 70th minute, but ‘Hond’ failed to hit the target. Added some much-needed bite in midfield when he came on.

6 Camaldine Abraw – Came on for Manqele and immediately gave Chiefs a different dimension. Scored a late consolation, but then also missed the penalty in the 74th minute.
