Hunt bemoans "poor play"

Telkom Knockout

Hunt's men went down 3-2 to Golden Arrows, with Abafana Bes'thende substitute Rudolf Bester netting a 79th minute winner after a brace from teammate Bongi Ntuli, while Kwando Mngonyama and Sibusiso Vilakazi twice gave the Students the lead at Bidvest Stadium.

Hunt, who replaced Cliver Barker at Milpark in the offseason, said afterwards: "How we didn't score four or five goals, even in the first half, I don't know.

"Their three goals came from losing possession on the half-way line, the same player twice.

"To be fair, to be honest, we did enough to win the game but you can't defend like that and give the ball away on the half-way line.

"It's poor play."

The former SuperSport United boss added that the disruptive nature of the local football calendar did not help teams, but he stopped short of offering it as an excuse for the result.

"It's so difficult to get started, we've played no football and it showed.

"But no excuses, we are all in the same boat," concluded the three-time Premier Soccer League winner.

The Clever Boys have played nine games since their campaign started on August 4.
