With the 2021/22 Premier League season set to get underway on Friday, here is a look at South Africa's all-time leading goalscorers in the competition.

South Africa had two representatives in the Premier League during the 2020/21 campaign Khanya Leshabela and Percy Tau – although neither managed to find the net for either Leicester City or Brighton & Hove Albion.

However, many South Africans from years gone by have enjoyed success in front of goal, including Bafana Bafana's record goalscorer Benni McCarthy, who scored 37 goals in 120 appearances across spells with Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United.

The now-Amazulu head coach's tally included an impressive return of 18 goals in the 2006/07 campaign with Rovers, which saw him end the season as the division's second-highest goalscorer behind Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.

He leads the charts ahead of former national team teammate Shaun Bartlett, who scored 24 goals in 123 appearances for Charlton Athletic, while former Everton, Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Steven Pienaar is the only player to have reached double figures.

Pienaar netted 20 times in the competition, which ranks him as South Africa's third-highest scoring player in the Premier League, ahead of Philemon Masinga, Quinton Fortune, Mark Fish, Eric Tinkler and Mbulelo Mabizela.
