Notoane waiting on overseas players

The under-23s are due to play Angola in their first round, first leg U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Luanda on Friday.

Kabelo Seriba, who plays his football in Latvia, has teammed up with the squad, while the likes of Liam Jordan, Thabo Cele and Luther Singh are expected to arrive before the team leaves for Luanda on Wednesday.

“We had a good turn out of players who reported for national team duty on the first day of camp on Sunday. A total of 21 players reported for camp out of the expected 28, and that is a very good number,” Notoane told SAFA media.

“Most of our overseas players could not report for camp on the first day as expected due to club commitments. We are expecting them to be in camp by Tuesday. Kabelo Seriba I can confirm has arrived already. The other ones will be arriving later today.

“We now have a total of 24 players in camp following the arrival of Chippa United’s Tercious Malepe, Highlands Park’s Given Msimango.”

The under-23s are due to play a friendly match against the senior team of the Lesotho at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria.

The AFCON, to be played in Egypt in November, serves as a qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The top three sides at the competition will represent Africa in Tokyo.
