Molefi forced to drop Pirates star

Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki has been forced into at least one change for this afternoon's match as an Orlando Pirates defender has been pulled from the matchday squad.

Bafana continue their 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with the return leg fixture against Sao Tome and Principe at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Monday (15h00 kick-off).

After claiming a 2--0 victory in Durban last Friday, the Group C runners-up will be looking to collect another three points to maintain pressure on leaders Ghana, who face Sudan in Omdurman on Tuesday (15h00 kick-off).

Ntseki, however, will have to make at least one change to his line-up from last week's winning team with defender Innocent Maela ruled out of the tie.

The Pirates left-back, who has earned six senior international caps thus far, has, according to a statement on, suffered a knock during the encounter at Moses Mabhida Stadium and sat out of training on Sunday.

Whether the former SA under-17 mentor will make further changes remains to be seen, with Mamelodi Sundowns striker Kermit Erasmus having returned to training after sitting out and Rangers FC midfielder Bongani Zungu having made a positive impact after coming off the bench on Friday night.
