Amajita landed on Thursday afternoon, nine days before their opening Group A match against the hosts in Maradi, which is one of two cities being used for the matches. The team flew to Niger via Ethiopia.
Head coach Thabo Senong announced his 21-man squad earlier this week and the big exclusion was former Orlando Pirates striker Lyle Foster, who would not be released by his new French Ligue 1 club Monaco.
Before Amajita left the country, SAFA president Danny Jordaan gave the players a message of support and his words inspired goalkeeper and team captain Khulekani Kubheka.
“The president made mention of legends like Doctor Khumalo, Mark Fish, Quinton Fortune and the like, and how they fought for the badge each time they donned national colours,” Kubheka said.
“These are the guys we look up to as national juniors because they did extremely well when representing the nation at the highest level. We want to do the same as well.”
Other countries in Group A are Burundi and Nigeria.
