Westerlo vice president Hasan Cetinkaya has confirmed the Belgian club's acquisition of Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster.

Foster is expected to complete a loan move from Portuguese side Vitória de Guimarães to the Belgian First Division B outfit this week after seeing a previous move delayed due to Covid-19 related travel restrictions.

"South African international Lyle Foster's transfer has been completed for some time, but due to the travel restrictions surrounding corona, he has not yet been able to join the group," Cetinkaya told Gazet van Antwerpen.

"He is expected at the club next week. In principle, we are also sufficiently armed with [Igor] Vetokele, [Fernand] Gouré and [Kyan] Vaesen."

The former Orlando Pirates striker will arrive at the club shortly following the departure of countryman Kurt Abrahams, who joined domestic rivals KMSK Deinze at the start of the season following the expiration of his contract.

Westerlo kicked off their 2021/22 campaign with a 2-0 league win over Excelsior Virton over the weekend and will be in action again on Friday evening when they play host to RWD Molenbeek.
