Bafana slip down latest FIFA World Ranking

SA National Teams

Bafana Bafana have slipped down the latest FIFA World Ranking following Tuesday's comprehensive 5-0 defeat to France.

South Africa embarked on its first tour of Europe since 2012 during the March international break when the nation took part in friendly internationals against Guinea in Belgium and against reigning world champions France in Lille.

It was ultimately a disappointing outing for Hugo Broos' side who played out a goalless draw against Guinea, before being trounced 5-0 by Les Bleus earlier this week,

Those two results have seen Bafana Bafana lose one place in the latest FIFA World Ranking, with the national team now ranked 69th in the global standing, just two positions ahead of Cape Verde.

South Africa's latest ranking slip also keeps the team outside of the top 10 on the African continent, where 12 other countries are currently ranked higher than the 1996 CAF Africa Cup of Nations winners.

Elsewhere, Belgium have been dethroned as the world's highest-ranked nation, with South American giants Brazil assume the top spot.
