Time running out for Lebese?

Transfer News

Lebese did not feature for the defending Absa Premiership champions in the first half of the season and head coach Pitso Mosimane bid the player farewell in December, believing that the player would be leaving Chloorkop in January.

Now, with less than 48 hours before the transfer window closes, Lebese could see himself staying at the club for the rest of the season, if no one makes a concrete offer for his services.

Bidvest Wits and Cape Town City were reportedly interested in his services heading into the transfer window, but KickOff.com was informed by an insider at Chloorkop that offers have not come through for the player.

A loan move was expected for the player who left Kaizer Chiefs to start a new chapter with Sundowns at the beginning of the 2017/18, but he will no doubt be hoping that he can get a move before the window closes on Thursday. The player has been keeping himself fit in the hope that he will find a club this month.

KickOff.com tried to get hold of Lebese’s agent Steve Kapeluschnik, but he did not respond to numerous calls made to him.

Meanwhile, in Toni Silva's tirade against Mosimane, the Guinea-Bissau international said the former Bafana Bafana mentor does not want to allow Lebese to play elsewhere because he will do well.

Silva said in part of his statement: "You have George Lebese in the team, the boy is not playing and everyone knows he is one of the best players in the league, and you can’t even give a reason why, but you say ‘it didn’t work out’. You won't even let him play elsewhere because you know he would fly high and expose you as the bad couch [sic] you are!

"I really feel sorry for the players (who) can’t leave, (who) don’t have options. Pitso, when you mention the people you give chances to, you must also mention the people you don’t give chances to like George Lebese. Have you even given him a chance this season? No, so tell the papers that you fail to make it work, not that ‘it didn’t work’."
